class description

Parents, your help is greatly appreciated on emphasizing the importance of following the dress code. It is an opportunity to teach your child about respect, responsibility and organization. Guide them by providing them with the proper dance attire, extra hair ties and double checking that they have their dance shoes before leaving the house.

HAIR MUST BE UP FOR ALL LEVELS

What is allowed...

LEOTARD or a 'Dawn's School of dance' tank top only
(all profits from Tanks and Sweats go to St. Jude Children's Hospital)

Capri dance pants, Capri leggings, sweatpants with elastic on legs, or shorts

Tights(footless, if not wearing a ballet or jazz shoe)

Sweatshirts may be worn over dance clothes for stretches only.

All classes are combination classes. Therefore, everyone will need Tap shoes. Tap shoes should fit properly.  Please do not get tap shoes with "room to grow" .  It is very difficult to dance in shoes that are too big. FREE shoes are available at the studio because of our "shoe swap" program, as well as reasonably priced second hand taps for the more advanced Tappers. Be sure to swap your shoes as soon as they become snug.  Blisters can be very discouraging to young dancers!

Toddlers may be barefoot or wear ballet shoes, not 'slippers' (the satin shoes sold at Walmart with the leotards ARE NOT ballet shoes, they are 'slippers' and therefore, too slippery to be used in dance class)

It is strongly recommended that Levels working on Turns purchase "Foot Undeez" or "pirouettes".
